Is the Proxxon 50/e a good rotary tool?
I have heard mixed reviews about the longevity and trustworthiness of Dremel tools, and I have heard a few good things about Proxxon. I have looked at their catalog and determined the 50/e is what would fit me best. Does anybody use it who can vouch for it? Any other good rotary tools like this one that you like?
Proxxon have several: there’s the 50/E you looked at and also the 50/EF with a chuck instead of collets. And you can buy a chuck if you own the collet version! You need a 12volt mains adapter. The 50/E and 50/EF already have speed controls so mains adapter 38706 is cheapest and has power to spare for those tools. Consider the mains operated tools too. They are fractionally larger but have 100watt motors over the 40watt rating of the 50/E and 50/EF. Check out 38472 and Proxxon’s professional 38481 before you buy. Proxxon Germany has a good site http://www.proxxon.com and also Proxxon World http://www.proxxon-world.com has prices.
