What is the best way to remove melted plastic off of glass?
A plastic toy flag brushed against our fireplace glass and melted onto it. Now the flag is fused to the glass and is impossible to remove. I am not sure if I want to scrape it off because I am afraid to scratch the glass. I have tried Goop-be-gone as well as Ceramic Stove Top Cleaner with no success. Any suggestions?
Build another fire to re-melt the plastic.
While the plastic is soft, scrub the plastic off with dry paper towels.
By the way, fine Steel wool, such as Brillo or S.O.S. pads, will not scratch glass as long as you add some dish washing liquid as a lubricant. I use Brillo pads on my Visions and Pyrex cookware all the time…no scratches. I’ve even used Brillo on windows to remove paint drips…and again no scratches.
Coarse steel wool might scratch glass, but the finer grades won’t as long as you use some soap.
